Thank God I found this, I just got my puppy yesterday and was starting to switch her over to 80/10/10, (buying premade) and I didn’t feel right about it and all of a sudden this pops into my feed, is there a way to add supplements to the premade and have it be balanced? Also I’m a bit of a nut for not buying anything factory farmed and I know the source of the premade
Hi Isaac! Something/someone was looking out for you I guess! 💙 I responded to your email you sent me - go check it out. :)
I feed whole raw sardines, not canned, so should I not be adding them to my prep?
Back up to feed with an egg in case I forgot to pull something out the night before. :)
If you have a dog that is so genetically separated from a wolf yeah maybe you should feed it out of a bag because it’s not the same thing as it was found in nature and in nature they eat more than just the rib bones they eat all the bones.
Just gave my 10 week ol German shepherd mastiff mix a chicken leg 🍗 (raw) but i stripped the meat off of it because i heard mt whole life chicken has salmonella bacteria? Should i have??
Thank youuuuu -Becca W
I give my dog a raw egg every other day. She only get shell if it’s farm fresh egg. Store bought she only gets the egg no shell.
Perfect!
😂 no most of your dogs are made in labs there regardless of what you might think they're not a wolf not in the slightest.
I have to watch More of your videos. But how often do you feed them per week
Can you explain your question a little more?
@@RawFeeding101 I'm watching 👀 more of your videos. Great information and links. Will be reaching out to you soon
Thank you so much for the step by step video
Do you have any new recommendations for puppy prebalanced/premades?
What kind of puppy?
Good information... thank you!
Of course! Happy to help!
What temp does the food need to be when feeding? Feed directly out of the fridge? Thanks
Some dogs are particular but the vast majority are fine with food right out of the fridge.
i just bought some of the chicken paws for my doberman. they have chicken nails on them. Should i cut them off ?
Doesn't raw digest quicker? If mixing both can this mess up a dog's digestive tract?
The digesting at different rates bring a problem if a disproven now. All foods digest at different rates so no, it’s not an issue to mix. Some fresh food is better than none.
thank you @@RawFeeding101
Yes why not. She is a Doberman puppy and likes the wings and legs
do you count the skin with the fat
What do you mean?
My dog got very sick from raw. She kept getting bacteria clostridium pathogens. Bad diarrhea. I cook her food now
I’m so sorry to hear that? In my 14 years of raw feeding I’ve never heard of that happening.
Pork ribs? I bought a few racks that were on sale, but now I'm afraid to feed them. Afraid of choking and bloat. Any suggestions? I have 12 golden retrievers and a Dutch shepherd.
That totally depends on the dog. Pork ribs are on the denser side but some larger dogs do just fine with them if they are good chewers. Always feed ribs in 2 rib sections to avoid choking/swallowing whole.
@RawFeeding101 thank you so much for replying! They eat turkey necks, and chicken quarters pretty well, so I thought it would be fine. Then I second guessed myself and started googling it and scared myself again. Lol Thank you so much for such an informative and comprehensive video. I've added this video to my own channel for my puppy families. So grateful for people like you in our world. ❤
@shadymistkennel awww 🥰 Thanks for the kind words! That’s a big pack, if you ever have other questions let me know. We have consultation times on the website. :) www.rawfeeding101.com

@shadymistkennel 💙🤘💙
I have a king German Shepherd and I feed him smoked turkey legs and wings. I feed him real meat just cause I don’t trust the dry dog food. I even feed him liver beef and chicken but he don’t like it raw so I boil it for him and if I can find it hearts.
Great work feeding fresh food! Keep learning, I would ditch the smoked bones, smoked/cooked bones tend to splinter into sharp shards and can cause major problems.
So stressed I'm shaking and about to throw in the towel. Our 1 yr old min pin/staffy mix has only ever eaten raw. Started with grass finished ground beef and raw livers/hearts/steamed spinach/quail eggs and he loved it. Switched up with raw ground chicken/raw breast with livers/etc and he liked that as well. Then in recent months became very picky and wont touch any organs raw, turning away raw ground beef/lamb/chicken and will only consider it when cooked. Even then he often refuses the red meats seared or cooked and will only eat a little ground chicken. He liked cooked chicken breast from our dinner for a few days but then wouldn't touch anything off the carcass. Seemed to sort of like a chicken raw neck one time but now won't touch them. Is it possible a dog just won't eat raw? He needs nourishment yet barely eating enough calories most days.
Have you had him checked for medical issues like the mouth and thyroid? Is it possible you are over feeding him so he’s never appropriately hungry the next day? How do you come up with what and how much to feed him?
@@RawFeeding101 We haven't had him checked recently. He was evaluated by a vet through our friend that gave him to us from her accidental litter when he was 4 months, he was perfect health. The only vets near us are vehemently against raw eating and rather confrontational to deal with since we prefer more natural vet care (Dr. Karen Becker was our previous vet but too far and currently outside of budget). We are without income at the moment, so a vet visit isn't exactly an option right this second anyway ( I know how bad that sounds, and it is as bad as it sounds...but this pup being fed is our priority even over our own bellies being full). He isn't overfed because he'll eat okay one day and then terribly for the next 3-4 days. I'd think that after that 3-4 days of aversion he'd finally be more agreeable, but no, still super picky. even after a few days of too little calories. Very interested in our flavorful human meals though! There's no consistency in what he'll want or if he'll insist it be cooked or not. We're new to raw with this pup. He was so eager at first, so we tried following the ratios shared online for raw diets but his picky appetite has really not allowed us to adhere to anything of an actual proper diet, which is concerning. I'm losing hope and confidence that we can feed him this way, even though I believe it to be the best for him, if he'd actually eat it.
Does he get any kind of bones?
@@RawFeeding101 just started trying. He ate one raw chicken wing tip pretty easily this week and the toes of a a chicken foot tonight (with much hesitation). We didn’t have access to bones until this past week 😣
@roekinn516 what are his poops like?
Ha- I've been on a search for the perfect gloves for years now - and still haven't found any I really love... if you've found any, please, let me know!!
Hi Scott, I had no problems for 3 years then all the sudden my female shepherd quit eating. I tried all of your suggestions to no avail and even seared it. I usually fed twice a day with sardines as a snack before bed. I switched it up to sardines and egg in am and meal in pm. This so far has worked perfectly for the last 6 months and of course I switch up proteins.
Nice work troubleshooting! Glad it worked out!
Can I feed cook frozen sardine for my dog everyday? Small sardine is about 14g for 1. And my dog is about 23lb. Thanks
Sorry I’m a little confused about whether you mean feeding it frozen or cooked.
I cook it. feeding it cooked. Thanks@@RawFeeding101
Can dogs eat fresh bluefin tuna?
I don’t recommend dogs eat any fresh caught meats without being frozen for 3 weeks first and checked for parasites. 🪱
And do NOT feed your dogs pork. Pork is notorious for parasites.
what, human grade meat is safe to feed. i feed my cats pork daily :) I'm in Sweden though and here we have really strict laws/restrictions about food, no parasites, poop etc in it. yes, accidents happen, but then they're required to send information out about it and pull it fast from the stores and tell people to throw it away. in general, Europe has better food safety laws than US
@@KhaleesiCirilla Yes I'm sure your country is better. The US doesn't really have any laws about things that aren't good for you. Lol You kind of have to figure it out for yourself. I know the pork in the US has tons of parasites in it... you can put soda on it and they'll all come running out. I don't know.. I quite eating meat a year ago for reasons... my puppies are on a raw diet though of beef, rice, and fruit.. mostly berries sometimes apples, banana, Watermelon. Fruit cleans the body out so I always make sure they have fruit with every feeding.
Worms in USDA regulated pork has not been an issue since 1986. Have you tested this theory out yourself or saw it on a video somewhere?
@@RawFeeding101 Hahaha I was cleaning myself out for at least a year. You don't even want to know how many Parasite came out of me. So the fact you say it isn't a big deal.... uhhh OK.
@@vanihansen2136 I’m happy to hear you got the parasites out of you, what I’m curious about after your claim is if you yourself tested pork by pouring soda on it and watched worms come out of it.
Check there eyes. My pup was not healthy when I got him.. with brown eyes. His eyes are now turning green which is better but blue is best.
If you want your dog to live a long time.. feed them a lot of fruit with there raw meat. Fruit cleans the body. Forget vegetables dogs cannot digest them.
I understand the concept that the amount of food is based on caloric need per day per individual dog and that is based on activity. So, a couch potato dog who eats X amount of the food vs. a super active dog who eats 2X amount of this food will end up only getting half the nutrients as the guy eating twice as much. At face value, one might therefore assume that most of the nutrients need to be doubled for the couch potato. However, I would argue that that idea is probably too simplistic-- The super active guy is not just burning through more calories but is also "burning" through more nutrients. For example, his active muscle cells are utilizing more antioxidants per day, more metal ions as cofactors for his more active biochemical pathways, etc. So, I think it is okay to just make a balanced recipe and feed more or less based on dogs body condition (underweight, overweight, or normal). If he is very active but is overweight then you are feeding him too much volume of the recipe per day and vice versa. Great video. Love your channel!
Thanks for the kind words my friend! 💙
Viagra has also been working for my dog but it took a week to kick in. It relaxes the just esophagus so the food can enter the stomach. It does not give them any erection! He still regurgitates but it's usually only the saliva
Cut off the top inch or two of a duck neck and the top few centimeters of a chicken neck to hopefully remove the thyroid. Isn't this the solution to not over-feeding thyroid tissue? Necks are one of the few bone types my 14 pound dog can handle. The necks do a much better job cleaning the teeth than the wings.
I have a 14 pound, miniature poodle. He is on the spindly side. He is 3 years old and has had to have his teeth vet cleaned each year despite the fact that he eats mainly raw/freeze dried raw and fresh cooked (so very low carb and no grain) despite the fact that I brush his teeth daily. He builds plaque faster than any small dog I have ever had so I decided that bones have to be part of his weekly diet. I started with chicken necks and was amazed at how, after only one week, his back teeth were cleaner. I can get bags of chicken and duck necks at my local, raw focused pet food store and he does very well with these sizes. On average, he gets one duck neck a week or several chicken necks-- I cut off the head end in the hopes of removing the thyroid tissue (Please comment on whether or not that makes sense). I also give chicken wings. I can't find chicken frames/backs in my area. I can find chicken feet at the regular grocery story sometimes and stock up. Can't find duck feet. Don't know how to source good quality, raw rabbit. I only feed him human grade foods. Anyway, small dogs need the dental benefits most of all but are very limited in the diameter of bones that will not break the teeth. Any advice about sourcing is appreciated. Love your channel.
My dogs eat raw duck eggs every day, we have so many ducks We feed them fresh with duck shit on them still they love it.
Yay thank you!!! I’m going to try blending with coconut oil and egg, my dogs LOVE the raw diet but my girl is very much of a texture girl.
I hope it helps!
Can I remove the thyroid gland with poultry shears before feeding? -- Either by cutting off that end of the neck bone altogether or by cutting into the soft tissue and excising it. I have a 14 pound, miniature poodle so, because of his small size, am very limited in safe bone choices. The neck vertebrae seem to clean his teeth much better than a chicken wing. I'd have to brush up on my endocrinology but pretty sure that the thyroid secretes an inactive form that has to be converted in other organs to the active form. Also thinking that avian form of pre-active thyroid hormone probably not a substrate for mammalian enzymes to covert to active hormone-- I could definitely be wrong but these are my thoughts and I will do some literature research and get back to you. I might try to correspond with Karen Becker on this. My poodle eats commercial raw with ground bone and gently cooked, homemade recipes all with human grade, fresh ingredients and very low carb, grain-free variety. And, despite me brushing his teeth twice a day and getting him an annual anesthesia deep clean, his teeth would accumulate brown plaque fast. I did not have this big a problem with my previous miniature poodles. Anyway, the plaque convinced me to get over my fears and give him bones. The duck and chicken necks proved to be amazing and one duck neck removed the brown plaque on his back teeth that even my dental instruments failed to do. The necks work much better for the teeth than the wings and feet.
Great to see you! What timing. I have a question. I have the opportunity to get high quality emu and venison. I stay away from rabbit and turkey due to their high glutamate. My dog has a history of seizure. Regulated by natural modality. Question- does emu and venison have high glutamate? Or can you direct me to a source. I’ve search and can’t seem to find an answer! Thanks for any information you can lend. Thanks!
I wish I could give you a better answer than I don’t know but the truth is I don’t know. 🤷♂️
2 17 month old boxer pups - they chew... sorta', so far chx feet ande wings, but I worry that they don't take a little longer to chew. the wings go down a bit slowe .but still pretty fast. They have not had any problems with choking or blockages. Does this give anyone enough info for an informed suggestion as to whether or not pork ribs would be a good idea for them? Male is 63-65 lbs, female is 53. Thx
My name is Lane, I can not do raw diet on my 1 year old golden, he keeps getting diarrhea…it is not working!
What are you feeding?
Doesn’t mean it’s not working… it means you are doing something wrong or feeding proteins your dog has an intolerance to.
for only $40 bucks for all that is incredible and for being natural!
Agreed!
Thank you for saying that not all pre made raw food is bad / trash. I feed this way plus sell it at my store. I feel this works for many people and is a good way to reach people and teach that there is a better way to feed our dogs. I tell my customers they can also do diy if this is not in their budget and tell them to come to this channel to learn.
Agreed! Thanks for sharing the channel my friend!
